One of the big problems students have is communications one in a foreign country. For example, most people now have smart phones but the cost of using them in a foreign country (data roaming) is often extortionate.
As a completely free service, I am able to provide a SIM card on a pay-as-you-go basis so that this can be used on a temporary basis for the time that the students are here in the UK.
No contract is involved and currently, as an example, I can provide a SIM card, set up an account online to activate the SIM, help the student "top up" the SIM and have the everything running within 10 minutes.
Currently one of the best offers around requires a one-off payment of £12 which includes unlimited data Internet, 250 UK minutes & unlimited text messaging. This is valid for a whole month and by paying £12 the SIMcard is also credited with £5 which can be used to call international numbers at very low rates.
For example, landline calls to Italy cost 3p per minute so the 5 pounds is equivalent to nearly 3 hours of phone call.
